In order to prepare the showroom for the increasing amount of EV, it is necessary to plan the installation of both slow and fast chargers with power often exceeding that installed in the building.

When planning installations for charging devices, it is necessary to take into account the target demand for vehicle power. It is also very important that the power is properly managed by the IT system.

Phase 1
First chargers in the showroom

Installation of 1-2 AC chargers (up to 22kW).
No IT system for administration and power management. Changing power consumption in the showroom and service area does not affect the charging power.

Phase 2
Increased number of AC chargers

When increasing the number of AC chargers, an energy measurement must be made at the Energy Guard connection. Changing the current consumption in the Showroom and Service area affects the charging power – the chargers automatically reduce the power during the time of higher consumption by the Showroom. If there are more vehicles, they share the available energy equally thanks to the DLB function. Enelink’s administrative software allows you to influence system operation and to sell energy from the chargers.

Phase 3
System with DC charger

After increasing the number of AC chargers, the amount of power available at the connection is small. When installing a DC charger in the range of 50-150kW, it is necessary to prioritize the use of power for the DC charger over AC chargers in the administrative system. For several tens of minutes of DC charging, the AC chargers will reduce their power significantly.

Phase 4
Showrooms of the future

With the revolution in electromobility and energy, it is worth changing the perception of the Showroom as a place solely dedicated to the sale and service of cars. The Dealer’s Showroom can become an energy hub, which on the one hand allows charging Dealer’s vehicles and selling energy to other EV users, but also can store and produce energy (photovoltaics). Used battery packs will have 50-60% of available power to use as an energy storage for the next few years. Energy companies will very willingly use this type of hubs commercially, as an element of network stabilization (DSR). In order to fully exploit the ecosystem’s potential, Enelion has developed modular AC-DC and DC-DC converters that can either charge and discharge the vehicle or battery packs, convert energy from photovoltaics for use in the showroom or for feeding into the grid. The administrative software ensures that the system functions properly.
